DanJia originally belongs to the wa language dianjax. It is related to the legend and has the meaning of "poverty, the source of curse". It is also said that because there were many ancient tea trees there a long time ago, it was translated into "the place where tea grows", "the hometown of tea", etc. DanJia District Working Committee was established in 1956, and Xiangyang commune was established in 1969. In 1972, it was renamed DanJia commune, which has jurisdiction over six brigades: DanJia, Yongwu, Bijie, yonggai, Anye and gaduo.
