Xizhu street was established in Kunming City in 2011, which was merged from the former Shalang street and Changkou street.

In 2011, Shalang street and Changkou street were abolished, Xizhu street was established, and the Management Committee of Kunming Xizhu ecotourism Experimental Zone was established.

The former Shalang street is located in the northwest of Kunming City, connecting Panlong District and Hongyun street in the East, Phuket street in the south, Tuanjie street in the west, Changkou street and Fumin County in the north. The average altitude is 1860 meters. It covers an area of 138.99 square kilometers and has a population of 18559 (at the end of 2008), including 17882 agricultural population, 9689 Han nationality, 8369 Bai nationality, 207 Yi nationality and 121 Miao nationality. It has jurisdiction over six village (neighborhood) committees: Dongcun, Dacun, Taoyuan, Sanduo, Longqing and doupo. The office is located in Dongcun, 15 kilometers away from Kunming city. The territory has complex and diverse topography, high in the East and low in the West. The altitude ranges from 1680 to 2460 meters, with an average altitude of 1860. Longqing River and Shalang River belong to Jinsha River system, and 108 National Highway and Kunming Xiaojia village pass through. There is Tianshengqiao shuilian cave, which was visited by Xu Xiake, a geographer of Ming Dynasty. It is known as the first ancient cave in Central Yunnan and is a famous scenic spot.

Shalang is a Yi language, which means Bazi of shaduo. From Ming Dynasty to Qing Dynasty, it belonged to shalangli. In the late Qing Dynasty, it was under the jurisdiction of shalangbao and toucunbao.

In 2000, six offices were abolished and six village committees and 62 villagers' groups were set up accordingly.
In 2004, Xishan District was put under the jurisdiction of Wuhua District. It covers an area of 138.99 square kilometers and has a total population of 17599, including 16967 agricultural population and 7920 Bai population.
In 2006, it covers an area of 139 square kilometers and has a population of 17800. It has jurisdiction over six administrative villages, including Dongcun, Dacun, Taoyuan, Sanduo, Longqing and doupo, and 62 villager groups. The township government is stationed in Dongcun.
In 2009, the township was removed and the street was set up.

Changkou Street

Yuanchangkou street is located in the northwest of Kunming City, bordering Songming County in the East, Shalang street in the South and Fumin County in the northwest. It covers an area of 131.8 square kilometers and has a population of 15800 (2006). It has jurisdiction over five village (neighborhood) committees, namely Xinmin, doupulu, Changkou, Yiliu and Wagong (two of which are enclaves in Fumin County). The office is located in Xinmin, 28 kilometers away from Kunming. There are titanium ore, lead-zinc mine and coal mine. Kunming (Ming) Xiaojia (Village) highway transit. Inside Changkou middle school is a monument to the long march of the Red Army.

In 2006, Xinmin village, doupulu village, Changkou village, Yiliu village and Wagong village were administrated, and the township government was stationed in Xinmin.
