The secret town

Zhemi town is a town under the jurisdiction of Pingtang County, Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Guizhou Province. It is the main town of the south passage of Pingtang county. It is located in the southeast of Pingtang County, 29 kilometers away from the county seat and 208 kilometers away from the provincial capital Guiyang city. It is at the intersection of Guan (Shang) Si (Zhai) highway and Jigu Sizhai highway. It is adjacent to yaosuo Township and Shangshang town in Dushan County in the East, Sizhai town in the south, Bairu town in the West and Pinghu Town and Kapu Township in the north.

The town has 23 administrative villages: zhemi village, Shangmao village, Xiamao village, Potou village, Shangke village, ganyudi village, pangni village, Jingdong village, Liudong village, Longping village, Hetou village, Jiashu village, Jiafan village, Laguan village, xiaang village, Liping village, Jiaqing village, Jiatuo village, Lagong village, miaola village, Jiatan village, naliao village, Layan village, 171 villager groups and 145 natural villages 4546 households. In 2002, the population of the town was 18700. The average number of people per square kilometer is 93, which is 13 less than the average number of the whole county. Among the total population, 18300 are agricultural population, accounting for 97.6%, and 17200 are ethnic minority population, accounting for 91.99%. There are Buyi, Maonan, Miao and other four ethnic minorities, which are the settlements of Maonan in our county. The population of Maonan Nationality is 13200, accounting for 70.59% of the total population.

Economic situation

The town's economy is dominated by agriculture. The main agricultural products are rice, corn, wheat, millet, sorghum, sweet potato, potato, soybean, peanut, sunflower seed, pepper, flue-cured tobacco, rapeseed, garlic, etc.; the main fruits are citrus, pear, peach, plum, persimmon, waxberry, etc.; the forest products are tung oil seed, wood oilseed, palm slice, gallnut, wood, walnut, chestnut, tea, etc. There are fish in aquatic products. In 2002, the total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery was 1986.91 million yuan, an increase of 9.1% over the previous year and 39.18% over 1998. The total grain output is 29881.61 tons. the town is rich in natural products, with coal reserves ranking the first in all townships (towns) in the county. Tung oil processing has a large scale, and its economic development potential is not small. If it can be reasonably exploited and effectively utilized, it will bring great economic benefits to the town.

The cultivated land area of the town is 14237.33 mu (including 8549 mu of farmland and 6728 mu of soil), with 0.81 mu of cultivated land per capita. there are abundant non-metallic mineral resources, mainly including coal and silica (coal mines are mainly distributed in Jinyu, Maocun, Pinghe and other villages, with a theoretical storage capacity of about 2 million tons; siliceous iron ore is mainly distributed in Jiaqing village, with a theoretical storage capacity of about 1 million tons). In liudongba area of Zhenyu, there is Pingzhou river passing through from north to south, with deep canyons on both sides of the river and abundant water energy resources. The theoretical reserve of water energy resources is 1.6 million cubic meters, and 1.2 million cubic meters of water energy resources can be developed and utilized.

The liudongba area of Zemi town has unique Maonan Ethnic Customs and beautiful river scenery. Jiaqing great Blind Valley is 8 kilometers long and 100-250 meters wide. On both sides of the Blind Valley, dangerous peaks and cliffs rise into the sky. To the southeast of the Blind Valley, there is a Tiansheng bridge 80 meters high and 40 meters wide. A 4 km long valley is newly discovered along the Jiala village trunk river. The valley is bare with white rocks. On the rocks there are "glaciers" suspected to have been formed by glaciation from 2 to 3 million years ago, which are of great value for scientific research and tourism development. Maocun village has Shouxing bridge, which was built in 1850, and Taihe bridge, which was built in 1840. Two ancient stone arch bridges are respectively carved with stone statues and stone lions weighing more than 1000 Jin. With its beautiful landscape, pleasant climate, well-developed karst landform, beautiful mountains and valleys, and diverse limestone karst landscape, it is a big tourist town to be developed in the south of Pingtang.
