Tuoxi Township, belonging to Shouning County, Ningde City, Fujian Province, is located in the west of Shouning County, adjacent to Aoyang town and Qingyuan Township in the East, Qinyang Township in the south, Xiadang Township in the West and Lingtou Township in Qingyuan County, Zhejiang Province in the north. It is 29 kilometers away from the county. The maximum distance from east to west is 14.1 km, and the maximum distance from north to south is 14.5 km, with a total area of 115.48 square kilometers.

Historical evolution
During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it belonged to the first, second and third maps of the ten capitals of Shouning County.
The first year of the Republic of China (1912), belongs to Pingxi district.
In 1936, it belonged to the fourth district (Pingxi).
In 1945, Tuoxi township was established.
In July 1949, Shouning County People's government was established. In August, it belonged to Pingxi district. In October, it belonged to the fourth district (Tuoxi). February 1956, belongs to Qinyang district.
In September 1958, Qianjin commune was set up in pingkeng and Wuxing commune was set up in Tuoxi.
In March 1959, Tuoxi commune was established.

In July 1965, Tuoxi commune was reestablished.
In September 1984, the township was changed from a community to a Tuoxi township.

Tuoxi township is located in Jiufeng Mountain Donggong mountain range. The terrain is inclined from northwest to Southeast. There are many mountains and streams in the township. The mountain is mainly steep, relatively high, with large difference and obvious gradient. The altitude is between 450 and 1600 meters. The main peaks are chaikengjian, ganglujian and shuangmiaojian. Shuangmiaojian, the highest peak in the territory, is located in Dashu village, with an altitude of 1626 meters; pingkeng village, the lowest point, with an altitude of 428 meters.

Tuoxi is the largest river in Tuoxi Township, from Lingtou, Qingyuan, Zhejiang to Shuiwei, pingkeng, flowing through Xiping, Tuoxi, Yangwei and Shatan, with a length of 60 km.

The main natural disasters in Tuoxi township are typhoon, rainstorm, freezing and so on. Typhoon disasters occurred six times a year, mainly from April to October. The most serious one occurred from 21:30 am on August 10 to 3:40 am on August 11, 2006. It was hit by "Sangmei" super typhoon. Roads were destroyed, traffic was interrupted, power and communication were paralyzed. More than 10000 people were affected, 532 houses (768 households) collapsed, and the direct economic loss was 320 million yuan.
