In 1950, it belonged to Hexiang Township and Leyuan township. In 1953, Youmai and pingbu townships were established. In 1958, the township was withdrawn and merged into Chengguan commune and Yueyuan commune. The second commune was established in 1962. In 1984, it set up Youmai Yao Township and hepingbu township. In 1992, Youmai Yao township was merged. It is rich in banana, tung oil seed, camellia oil seed, yellow fruit and Auricularia auricula. There are 10 primary schools. The Township People's government is located in pingbu, 14 kilometers southwest of Fuxing Town, by the pingbu river at the foot of maolai mountain. The population is about 600, all of them belong to Buyi Nationality. The altitude is 650 meters. "Pingbu" is the translation of Buyi language, which means long-term peace (Peace Village). Cedu highway passes through here. Youmai Yao township is under the jurisdiction of Wangmo County, Guizhou Province, with a population of 12050.
