Maoshi Town, a town under the jurisdiction of Huichuan District, Zunyi City, Guizhou Province, is located in the west of Huichuan District, connecting Gaoping Office of Huichuan District in the East, Songlin town in the south, Zhima town in the West and Shawan Town in the north. The town government is 35 kilometers away from the urban area, with an administrative area of 150.2 square kilometers. By the end of 2018, 22375 households had registered residence in Mao Shi. There are eight ethnic groups, including Han, Miao, Gelao and Tujia. On July 29, 2020, Maoshi town was named "2017-2019 National Health township" by the National Patriotic Health Campaign Committee.
History of construction
In Tang, song, yuan and Ming Dynasties, it belonged to Yang chieftain of Bozhou.
From the end of Ming Dynasty to the end of Qing Dynasty, it was Jiujia in beiyuli, BEIXIANG, Zunyi County, and Wujia and Liujia in daxili.
In 1932, Maoshi Township, shisanxia District, Zunyi county was established, and the district office was stationed in maoshichang.
In 1951, it belonged to 23 districts.
In 1958, it was a grass-roots commune in Gaoping.
In 1984, Maoshi and bajiaoshui communes were transformed into townships, which were located in Songlin forest area.
In 1992, Maoshi Township and bajiaoshui Township merged to build Maoshi town.
On April 5, 2016, the general office of Guizhou provincial government announced that the State Council made a reply to Guizhou Provincial People's government's request for instructions on adjusting some administrative divisions of Zunyi City (QFC [2015] No. 31), and agreed to put Maoshi town of Zunyi County under the jurisdiction of Huichuan District of Zunyi City.

History and culture
In the early Qing Dynasty, women surnamed Mao built wooden houses at the intersection of the river to do business, and many merchants built houses and operated according to Mao's shop.
