Nankai Miao and Yi nationality township is located in the north of Zhongshan District, 42 kilometers away from the downtown area. It is adjacent to Qinglin Township in the East, Baohua Township in the south, pengmuguo Township in the west, and Jinpen Township in the north. Nankai was formerly known as "Nanbai", which means the land of Fangma in Yi language.
Historical evolution
In 1946, it was named Nankai because of its open southwest.
In July 2020, the State Council officially approved the adjustment of some administrative divisions of Liupanshui City, and decided to put Nankai Miao and Yi township of Shuicheng County under the jurisdiction of Zhongshan District of Liupanshui City.

The township governs 14 administrative villages, 165 villager groups, 38419 people from 9336 households and 17163 people from 4179 ethnic minority households, accounting for 44.6% of the total population,
geographical environment
The land area is 136.070 square kilometers, and the cultivated land area is 27625 mu. Most of Nankai township is located in chongzidi and mawodi, with an altitude of 1530-2139 meters. The average annual temperature is 12.2 ℃, the lowest is 11.6 ℃, the average annual rainfall is 1124 mm, and the frost free period is 239 days. Bishui highway crosses the territory, and the ale river flows through the township, with a flow of 15 km. It is a typical agricultural township in Zhongshan District.
Corn and potato are the main food crops, while flue-cured tobacco, kidney bean and white garlic are the main economic crops. Flue cured tobacco has become the pillar industry of the township. White kidney beans and white garlic, which were once exported free of inspection, are gradually developing. Animal husbandry is booming. There are abundant mineral resources, such as coal, zinc and pyrite. The reserves of tuiya and shenxianpo coal fields reach 650 million tons, and the national folk culture is rich. The Miao Dragon Dance Festival on February 15 of the lunar calendar attracts many tourists at home and abroad It was named "Lusheng town of Miao nationality" by the provincial government. In 2003, the total social output value of the township reached 71 million yuan.
Honorary title
In July 2020, it was named "2017-2019 cycle National Health township" by the National Patriotic Health Association.
