Saping town is subordinate to Xiuwen County, located in the west of Xiuwen County, with a land area of 86 square kilometers and a total population of 16000.

Xiuwen County governs the town. Located in the west of the county. It has jurisdiction over 18 administrative villages. The town government is located in Xiaoba village, 27 kilometers away from the county. The centipede bridge across the Maodong river is the first of the ten bridges built by Guizhou Xuanwei envoy She Xiang's wife Li Jiuyi in the Hongwu years of Ming Dynasty. It is the only way for Guiyang to pass through the water to the West in Ming Dynasty.
