Folk customs
Baru township is the largest community of Yi people in China. Every year on June 24 of the lunar calendar, the Yi people in Liangshan wear festival costumes, sing and dance, hold a huge beauty pageant and competitions in clothing, horse racing, wrestling and archery, and light torches at night to march in the wilderness to commemorate their heroes. Torch Festival is a unique traditional festival of Yi people, which has been followed for more than 1000 years since Han and Tang Dynasties. The torch festival is usually held on the 24th day of the lunar calendar and lasts for three days. There are dozens of records and legends about the origin of the torch festival, which are rich and beautiful. One of the more common sayings is: 1. It is said that enteguz (the God of heaven in Yi mythology) sent minions to the mortal world to harm all living beings and crops. Under the leadership of Zhige Alu (the hero in Yi mythology), people were fearless and burned pests with torches on June 24 of the lunar calendar, defeating the God of heaven. Therefore, the Yi people designated this day as the torch festival and passed it on from generation to generation. (2) shulun's compilation of Xichang county annals Tang Kaiyuan, Deng Geng Zhao, one of the six imperial edicts. Nanzhao wanted to merge the five imperial edicts, so he called the five imperial edicts to drink in Songming tower because of Xinghui Festival. Deng Geng's wife was charitable. She was afraid to stop her husband. She didn't listen to her. She asked her husband for help and left. Compared with Nanzhao, the fire in its building, all the imperial edicts can't recognize the remains of their husbands, so they return the remains only for charity. Nanzhao had different benefits and employed them with coins. He was good at saying that his husband had not been buried. He buried himself in Yingcheng. Nanzhao surrounded it with soldiers. In March, the food was exhausted. He was good at dressing up, sitting upright and starving to death. Nanzhao looked for regret and honored its city as Deyuan. Today, the custom of Yunnan is more relaxed than that of husuo on June 24. More than Zhangyu is burning at night, which is used to light the field and pray for the new year, and use the light and shade of the torch to predict the abundance and apology. Qi you get together, chop animals and drink, and Yi and Han people share the same. Just as the records of literature and art in Xichang county (Jianchang Zhuzhi CI) says: the prophet who went to the banquet could not go back, and the smoke in the chailou was still cold, but now the fire tree has become a common custom, and patience turns Bingxin into ashes; Huixin foretold that it would be difficult to go back, and presented a golden cup to mourn for himself. Ancient people still light up the festival, swallowing six imperial edicts has become ashes.
