Nata Township

Nata township is under the jurisdiction of Baiyu County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. Nata township was established in 1959, changed its name to Hongxing Township in 1968, changed to Nata commune in 1975, and restored to Nata Township in 1984.

Nata township is located in the southeast of the county, 132 kilometers away from the county. It covers an area of 1419 square kilometers and has a population of 3985 (2017). Gan Bai highway transit. It has jurisdiction over six village committees: Changgen, Cuola, Jindu, Kata, naqiong and Nata. Nata township is a pure animal husbandry Township, with cattle and sheep. It is said that when deer are attacked by natural enemies (old bears, jackals, snow leopards, or poachers) and lose their companions, they will go through the swamp to hide in the haannaka mountain. At night, Tibetans living in Changgen village nearby can hear the cry of many deer, which sounds like crying. It sounds very sad. Deer call their dead companions by shouting. This mountain is their last fortress and also their sacrificial site. Whenever the cry of deer comes from haannaka, the deer will disappear around here for a long time. No one knows where they will migrate.
