On December 23, 2019, Sichuan Provincial People's Government approved Ganzi Prefecture to adjust the administrative divisions of some towns and townships in six counties (cities), including Kangding city (cfzm [2019] No. 25): Wanba Yi township was abolished and Wanba town was established. The administrative area of Wanba town was the administrative area of the former Wanba Yi Township, and the people's Government of Wanba town was stationed at No. 67, group 4, gaodiao village.

In December 2019, the people's Government of Sichuan Province abolished Wanba Yi nationality township and established Wanba town. The administrative region of Wanba Yi nationality township is the administrative region of Wanba town. The people's Government of Wanba town is located at No. 67, group 4, gaodiao village.
