Historical evolution
Dazang township was established in 1953, changed into a commune in 1966, and resumed in 1984. dazang temple was built in 1413. It is said that awanzaba, a disciple of zongkaba, the founder of Gelug Sect of Tibetan Buddhism, made a great wish to build 108 temples in Tibetan areas. When block 107 was completed, one day when he arrived at dazang, it was getting late. He saw three peaks standing in front of him. On the left peak, a God was playing cymbals, on the right peak, a God was blowing whelks, and on a giant fir tree in the middle peak, an oil lamp was as bright as a star. At that time, he could not choose the site of the temple. So he took out a hada and threw it into the sky. The next day, he saw hada Hanging on the fir tree in the middle peak. Awanzaba used his magic power to remove all the trees from the forest, leaving only one tree hanging hada. The site of the temple is here, and the tree is left as a pillar of the temple. Only one section of this pillar is left, which is preserved in the Temple Museum. After the temple was repaired, master awanzaba also achieved great success. He passed away in zhuokekenazu valley. The Chinese meaning of "dazang" is "complete". In Buddhist doctrine, the number 108 represents perfection.
