Mindong Township
Mindong Township, belonging to Qianwei County, Leshan City, Sichuan Province, is located in the northwest of Qianwei County, 11.79 kilometers away from the county. It borders Jinsu Town, Wutongqiao District in the northwest, Xiadu and Wuyu township (now Wuyu town) in the southeast. In 2017, it covers an area of 25.95 square kilometers and has a permanent population of 8221.
In 2015, Mindong Township governs 56 villager groups in 6 villages including Ping'an, Jinji, Dawan, Shazui, Hulu, Qifeng, and 4 resident groups in 1 community of Guanyin temple.
In December 2019, Sichuan Provincial People's government decided to abolish Mindong Township and put the former administrative region of Mindong Township under the jurisdiction of Wuyu town.
Historical evolution
Mindong township has always been under the jurisdiction of Qianwei county. Guanyin temple is the residence of township government. It was built in 1552, the 31st year of Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty, and got its name because of Guanyin temple.
In 1936, it was named Ping'an township.
In January 1956, Mindong Township and Ping'an Township merged into Ping'an township.
In October 1958, it was incorporated into Shixi people's commune.
In August 1959, jianmindong commune was separated.
In 1984, it was changed to Mindong township.
In December 2019, Sichuan Provincial People's government decided to abolish Mindong Township and put the former administrative region of Mindong Township under the jurisdiction of Wuyu town.

There are Majiapo reservoir and heihuyan reservoir, with water storage capacity of 5 million cubic meters. More than 60% of the farmland in the township can be irrigated by gravity. In July 1982, Majiapo reservoir's first and second power stations were built, with an annual power generation of 1.2 million kwh. In May 1999, the third stage power station (located at the entrance of Shima River to Minjiang River) was built, with an annual power generation of 1.2 million kwh.

History and culture
There are five Shanzhai sites in Mindong Township, which were built in the ninth year of Jiaqing in Qing Dynasty. The Shanzhai is built on a tabletop mountain area, starting from Liziya in the north, at the junction of JinSu town in WUTONGQIAO district and Qifeng mountain in the south, adjacent to the township government. It is 5000 meters long from north to South and 2000 meters wide from east to west. It's surrounded by cliffs. The highest altitude is 528m, and the relative height difference with Minjiang River is 200m. Although the altitude of the whole platform is not very high, because of its steep surroundings and abrupt rise, it also appears that the mountain is towering and the pass is precipitous. Five ancient villages, Tiancheng village, Shuangshan village, guitou village, Longtou village and Ma'ershan village, are distributed in zigzag shape over a distance of 5000 meters. After more than 130 years of wind and rain, the ancient style of Shanzhai still exists.
