Zhanqi town
Zhanqi Town, located in Sichuan Province, China, was established in the early Qing Dynasty. It was changed into Zhonghe Lianbao town in the 24th year of the Republic of China, and then into Zhonghe Township in the 29th year of the Republic of China. Historical evolution
Zhanqi town was liberated in December 1949, and was transferred to the Sixth District in 1950. In 1951, the fifth to eighth villages and the eleventh villages were designated, and Jinding township was established. Zhonghe Township governs six villages. In early 1953, some villages in Wazi township of Zitong county were merged into the fourth district. In 1955, the fifth and sixth villages of Jinding Township and the first, second, fourth, ninth and tenth villages of Wazi Township were divided into 10 villages. In the same year, the fourth district was withdrawn from Zhili county. Zhonghe Township People's commune was established in October 1958. It has jurisdiction over 10 administrative areas, subordinate to Xin'an district. In 1962, it had 12 brigades under its jurisdiction. In 1967, it was renamed Zhanqi commune. In May 1968, the Revolutionary Committee of Zhanqi commune was established. In the autumn of 1972, under the arrangement of the county, the Management Committee of Zhanqi people's commune was restored. It governs 16 villages and changed communes into townships in 1984. In September 1992, under the unified planning of the higher authorities to withdraw districts and build towns, Zhanqi township was changed into Zhanqi Town, which was subordinate to Jiangyou City.
