Evolution of administrative districts
During the period of the Republic of China, in 1942, Dashiqiao (today's Wulang Village) was built as the site of the township, which was named Xingren Township with the meaning of "prosperous benevolence". Xingren township was set up after liberation in 1950. In 1958, it merged with Lexing township to establish lexing people's commune. In 1959, one township and one commune was restored as Xingren people's commune. In 1983, Xingren township was restored. In December 2019, with the consent of Sichuan Provincial People's government, Xingren township was abolished and its administrative region was put under the jurisdiction of Huapeng town.
