In October 1992, Hongshi town was established by merging Hongshi Township and Shuangmei township. By the end of 2018, the population of Hongshi town registered residence was 33848. History of construction

During the Ming Dynasty, it belonged to baiyangbao, miaojibao and dongyangbao in Dongshi of Juren township.

On December 18, 1949, part of Hongshi township was divided into Longdong township.

In April 1951, Baojia was abolished and changed to village and group.

In January 1953, Hongshi township was divided into six small townships: Hongshi, Shimen, Donglu, Qinglong, Fuxing and Zhongjiang, belonging to the twelfth district.

In February 1956, Hongshi Township, Zhongjiang Township and Shuitian Township were merged to form Hongshi township.

In April 1958, Red Lion commune was established in Red Lion township.
