Hongshi Town, subordinate to Yunyang County of Chongqing, is located in the east of Yunyang County, adjacent to Longdong Township in the East, the Yangtze River in the South and Guling town across the river, Yundong Township in the West and Donglu Township in the north. During the Ming Dynasty, Hongshi town was located in East city of Juren Township, including baiyangbao, miaojibu and dongyangbao. In October 1992, Hongshi town was established by merging Hongshi Township and Shuangmei township. By the end of 2018, the population of Hongshi town registered residence was 33848. As of June 2020, Hongshi town has one community, nine administrative villages and two groups of Yongwu community.

History of construction
During the Ming Dynasty, it belonged to baiyangbao, miaojibao and dongyangbao in Dongshi of Juren township.
In the middle of Qing Dynasty, it belongs to the middle and lower armour of red lion.
On December 18, 1949, part of Hongshi township was divided into Longdong township.
In April 1951, Baojia was abolished and changed to village and group.
In January 1953, Hongshi township was divided into six small townships: Hongshi, Shimen, Donglu, Qinglong, Fuxing and Zhongjiang, belonging to the twelfth district.
In February 1956, Hongshi Township, Zhongjiang Township and Shuitian Township were merged to form Hongshi township.
In April 1958, Red Lion commune was established in Red Lion township.
In February 1961, some villages were set up from Hongshi commune.
In March 1984, Hongshi commune was changed into Hongshi township.
In October 1992, Hongshi Township and Shuangmei Township merged to form Hongshi town.
