Guchang Town, subordinate to Rongchang District of Chongqing, is located in the northern suburb of Rongchang District, adjacent to Zhuxi town of Dazu District in the East, Lukong town and Changzhou street in the south, Changyuan street and Renyi town in the west, Hebao town in the north, Zhuxi town and Longshi town of Dazu District in the northeast, with a total area of 35.37 square kilometers.
In the Ming Dynasty, Guchang town belonged to lizili; in October 1993, it was changed from Guchang town to Guchang town. By the end of 2018, the population of the registered residence in ancient town was 23670. As of June 2020, Guchang town has one community and five administrative villages, and the people's Government of Guchang town is located in Changsheng community.

History of construction
In Ming Dynasty, Guchang town belonged to lizili.
At the end of the Qing Dynasty, it was the Union League defense Bureau.
In 1913, it was called Xiehe township.
In June 1981, Xiehe township was changed into Guchang commune.
In March 1984, Guchang commune was changed into Guchang township.
In October 1993, it was changed from Guchang township to Guchang town.
