In the early Qing Dynasty, Zhiping town belonged to dushili; in May 2012, Zhiping street was abolished and Zhiping town was established. As of June 2020, Zhiping town has 6 communities and 2 administrative villages, and the people's Government of Zhiping town is located at No. 10, Renxing Road, Jinping community.

History of construction
In the early Qing Dynasty, Zhiping town belonged to dushili. In the 33rd year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (1694), the territory was the six capitals of duri.
In 1921, it belonged to the ninth regiment of six districts. In 1935, it was under the jurisdiction of Liuhe Town, the first district. In 1937, Baojia system was implemented, belonging to the Fifth District.
In September 1958, it was established as Rentuo commune.
In April 1984, Rentuo commune was changed into Rentuo township.
In September 1985, Rentuo township was changed into Rentuo town.
In May 2004, Rentuo town was abolished and Zhiping street was set up.
In May 2012, Zhiping street was abolished and Zhiping town was established.
