Baoyou town

Baoyou town is subordinate to Ledong Li Autonomous County of Hainan Province. It is located by Changhua River and only 45 kilometers away from the west line of Hainan Island Expressway. It is the seat of Ledong Li Autonomous County Party committee and county government, and the political, economic and cultural center of Ledong. The town has a total land area of 260.55 square kilometers, 50 130 mu of arable land, a total population of 82477 people (in 2017), and jurisdiction over 26 administrative villages and 3 communities.

Historical evolution

Baoyou town was built in 1956. In 1997, Baoding, Baoyou, duojian, Xiangyang and Fandou village committees were administered. In 2002, the administrative villages of Shanrong Township, Yongming Township, Baoyou town and Sanping Township were merged to establish Baoyou town.

Baoyou town has built six agricultural development bases of 12800 mu, including banana, longan, mango, betel nut, off-season melon and vegetable, with rubber industry as the leader. The town has planted 17639 mu of melon and vegetable, 2597 mu of betel nut, 9800 mu of banana and 36934 mu of rubber, of which, the rubber output is 1241 tons; the total grain output is 13432 tons; the fruit harvest output is 28991 tons (of which, 25390 tons of banana); and the livestock and poultry meat output is 28991 tons The total output is 2306 tons; the total output of oil crops is 608 tons. The per capita net income of farmers reached 1641 yuan.
