History and culture
In the early 1980s, almost every village had Qiong opera troupes, men and women, young and old, and everyone knew how to sing Qiong opera. A large number of Qiong opera actors were sent to Qiong opera troupes all over the island. Buxiao village, Xinzhu Town, Ding'an County is a typical qiongju village.
Buxiao village is 5 kilometers west of Xinzhu town in Ding'an County. This village has a long history of performing qiongju opera, with a large number of famous actors. It is also known as "qiongju village" and "troupe village".
The original name of Buxiao village was "Bupin village", which was later changed to "Buxiao village". There are 286 households and 1500 people in the village. As early as the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, Qiong opera activities were carried out in this village. It is said that an old artist named Wu Yingqin first came to Buxiao village to set up a Puppet Troupe. Soon after, Wu Wenhuan, an old artist, opened a class here to recruit apprentices and teach qiongju opera. Many young, middle-aged and old people joined the science drama. The teaching classes are "Gui" class and "Fu" class.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, in 1951, veteran artist Wu Fengwen took the lead in organizing troupes to perform all over the country. At first, they had no money to buy costumes. On the one hand, they mobilized the masses to donate money, on the other hand, they organized the masses to do sideline work to solve difficulties. In the late 1950s, the troupe disintegrated and resumed in 1962. In 1982, two amateur troupes were set up in the village, with the main actors as follows: Rukui, Yuehua, Yuecheng, fafeng, Jinying, etc. The repertoire includes "Zhu Baoyu", "selling Rouge", "Li Sanyang", "bridal chamber to marry sister-in-law" and so on. From the 1950s to the 1980s, Buxiao village has organized 12 amateur folk troupes. Almost every family in the village has performed Qiong opera. In particular, the Wu Fengwen family has nine generations of people performing on the stage, which is known as the "Qiong opera family".
In 1991, Buxiao village was recognized as the first qiongju village in Hainan Province by Hainan mass art museum. Ding'an County Cultural Bureau and cultural center provide support in clothing, props, scenery, music, lighting, broadcasting and other equipment. Buxiao village has a rehearsal field of nearly 300 square meters. The provincial and county level art museums have also sent four literary and art technical backbones to give guidance to Buxiao's "qiongju village" in stage art and singing art, making the qiongju activities in Buxiao village active again. He has successively rehearsed and performed three large-scale ancient costume qiongju operas, including qinxianglian, qixingmei and kufengyinglian, as well as modern xiaoqiongju operas, such as who to entertain and in memory of general Feng Baiju, which have been well received by urban and rural audiences. In 1994, the representative team of Buxiao village took part in the provincial qiongju performance TV Grand Prix and won the second place in the amateur group. From 1993 to 1994, the "qiongju village" performance team participated in two qiongju performance competitions throughout the county, and both won the second prize of amateur group. In the individual competition, he won two first prizes, one second prize, two third prizes and two performance prizes.
