Tian'an Township, subordinate to Dongfang City, Hainan Province, is located in the central mountainous area of Dongfang City, adjacent to Donghe town in the East, Jiangbian Township in the south, Xinlong town and Datian town in the west, and Datian town and Donghe town in the north. It is 28.6km away from Dongfang City. The maximum distance from east to west is 15.14 kilometers, and the maximum distance from north to south is 16.98 kilometers, with a total area of 272.48 square kilometers.
In Song Dynasty, it was subordinate to Zhoudong and Wangdong, ancient towns of Thanksgiving county. In 1995, Tian'an Township had 8 villagers' committees and Gongai Township had 7 villagers' committees. In August 2002, Tian'an Township and Gongai Township merged into Tian'an township. By the end of 2018, the registered residence population of Tianan township was 13242. As of June 2020, Tian'an township has jurisdiction over 15 administrative villages, and the Township People's government is located in Andu village.
In 2018, Tianan township has a comprehensive store or supermarket with a business area of more than 50 square meters.

In Song Dynasty, it was subordinate to Zhoudong and Wangdong, ancient towns of Thanksgiving county.

In 1951, it was subordinate to five districts of Ledong County.

In February 1958, it was Tian'an township. In October of the same year, it belonged to Dongfang commune.
In May 1961, Tian'an commune was established in Dongfang commune.

In 1964, Gong'ai commune emerged from Tian'an commune.
