Tongwan town is located in the middle of Guangxi, south of Wuxuan County, adjacent to Tongling town of Wuxuan County in the East, Shiya township of Laibin City in the west, Donglong town of Guigang City in the southwest, Zhongli township of Guigang City in the southeast and Siling township of Wuxuan County in the north. The town government is 34 kilometers away from Wuxuan County, 65 kilometers away from Guigang City in the south, 90 kilometers away from Laibin City in the West and 130 kilometers away from Liuzhou City in the north. Evolution of organizational system
Tongwan was established in 1620, the first year of Taichang in Ming Dynasty. In the former Qing Dynasty, it was called Dongwan, belonging to wulaili. Tongwan district was set up in 1909. In December 1949, it was changed to Tongwan Township, belonging to Tongling District (later renamed Nanhe District).
