Mianhu town
Mianhu town belongs to Jiexi County, Jieyang City, Guangdong Province. It is located in the east of Jiexi County, 19 kilometers away from Puning City, at the junction of Jiedong district and Puning City. On the Bank of the middle reaches of Rongjiang river. It borders Chigang town and Daba town in Puning City in the southeast and fengjiang town and Dongyuan town in the northwest. Mianhu town was built in the second year of Taiping Xingguo (977) of the Northern Song Dynasty. It was known as a millennium old town and was named Daojiang in ancient times. Later, because there was a famous Cloud Lake in the southeast of the town, which was more than 100 hectares wide and the water color was as clear as jade, and the kapok trees on the lake bank became forests. Later, it was renamed Mianhu because it was famous for producing kapok.
Mianhu town covers an area of 30.38 square kilometers, including 5.5 square kilometers of urban area. It governs 14 villages, 13 communities and 35 natural villages. By the end of 2017, there were 106237 permanent residents. The total industrial and agricultural output value of the town is 2.807 billion yuan, including 2.636 billion yuan of industrial output value, 171 million yuan of agricultural output value and 7795 yuan of per capita net income.
In 2002, Mianhu town was listed as one of the central towns in Guangdong Province. In May 2005, it was awarded the title of wire and cable professional town in Guangdong Province. In 2014, it was listed as a national key town

In October 2019, Mianhu town was selected as one of the "Top 1000 towns with comprehensive strength in China in 2019".
Evolution of organizational system
Mianhu town was built in 977, the second year of the Taiping reign of the Northern Song Dynasty.
In the third year of Hongwu (1370) of the Ming Dynasty, the Hukou inspection office under the jurisdiction of Jieyi was moved from dongyuanzhouzai village to Mianhu, which governed lintiandu.
In 1807, Zuotang was set up in Mianhu, which was 80 Li Long and 40 Li wide. It was an important town in Jieyang county and later called Mianhu city.
During the period of the Republic of China, it was the Third District Office of Jieyang, with jurisdiction over Jiaolong, Dongyuan, Yangxia, Tatou, Gongan, Heshun, Jinkeng, Hongjiang, Qiankeng, Yuexi, Hanoi, Fenghu, Fengsan and other 13 townships.
The Mianhu people's government was established in November 1949,
In May 1950, it was renamed Mianhu Town People's government.
In 1965, it was transferred from Jieyang county to Jiexi County.
In 1958, it merged with Dongyuan and fengjiang townships to form Mianhu people's commune.
In 1961, the original Mianhu people's commune demolished fengjiang, Dongyuan, Tatou and Jiapu people's communes, and Mianhu town became a people's commune.
In 1972, the original Dongyuan people's commune of Xiapu, Jingtan, Jiapu, Shangpu, Houpu five production teams belong to Mianhu Town People's commune.
In 1975, Gongshan, Sixiang and Huxi production teams originally belonging to Puning county were assigned to Mianhu Town People's commune.
Since 1983, the people's commune of Mianhu town has been renamed Mianhu town.

Mianhu town is located in the east of Jiexi County, in the middle reaches of the South River of Rongjiang River, adjacent to Chigang town and Daba town of Puning City in the East and south, and facing fengjiang town and Dongyuan town in the West and north across the South River of Rongjiang river. Mianhu town is flat and open, with an altitude below 20 meters, belonging to Rongjiang plain. The tributaries of Rongjiang river form an X-shaped water network with Mianhu Lake as the center. Due to the low and flat terrain, the flow velocity slows down, and the middle and lower reaches of the Rongjiang River are often supported by the tide, the siltation area gradually expands, forming an alluvial plain.
