Dengtang town
Dengtang town is located in the west of Chaozhou City, at the junction of Chaoan District, Fengshun County and Jiedong district. It is a mountainous town formed by the merger of yuantiandong town and Dengtang town after the adjustment of town level administrative divisions by the provincial Party committee and the provincial government in 2002. It is also one of the old revolutionary towns in Chaozhou City. It is one of the top ten poverty-stricken towns in China, and is a mountainous town. It is located at the junction of Chaozhou, Jiezhou and Meizhou, connecting Guxiang Town in the southeast, Guihu town in the northeast, Fengshun County in Meizhou City in the northwest and Jiedong County in Jieyang City in the southwest. It covers an area of 145 square kilometers, 112 square kilometers (168000 mu) of mountainous area and 9.1 square kilometers (13600 mu) of cultivated land. There are 27 village committees, 2 neighborhood committees and 46 natural villages. There are more than 30 surnames, mainly Ke, Zhao, Hua, Zhang, Yang, Chen, Deng, Wang, Lin, Wu, Yang and Bi.
In 2018, the total population of the town was 36192, including 19012 males, 17180 females and 148 floating population. There are 35000 overseas Chinese. In 2005, the total industrial and agricultural output value of the town was 14.64 million yuan, the industrial and commercial tax revenue was 470800 yuan, the national tax revenue was 320800 yuan, and the local tax revenue was 1.03 million yuan. Historical evolution
Dengtang town in the late Qing Dynasty belonged to Guiren capital of Haiyang county. It was called Dengtang Township in 1938, the first district in 1940 and Guiren Township in 1946. Tiandong Township belonged to guirendu of Haiyang County before 1914, Renhe District of Chao'an county in 1914, and the Second District of Chao'an county in 1950. In May 1953, there were three townships in the area: Xikeng, Huangtan and Wuquan. In February 1956, Xikeng Township, Huangtan Township and Wuquan Township were merged into Tiandong Township, which has jurisdiction over 14 natural villages including Xikeng, Hengyang, Dongkeng, Tiandong, Huangtan, Shitian, Dahu, xiaohulu, Shanxia, Shanqiao, chiliu, Wuquan, huangzhujing and Qifeng. Dengtang township was merged into Dengtang Township in December 1956. In September 1958, Dengtang township was merged with Guxiang and Tiandong, which was called red commune. Dengtang commune was established independently in 1960, merged with Tiandong in 1962, dismantled Tiandong in 1974, and established Dengtang commune and Tiandong commune respectively. Dengtang district was renamed in July 1983. Dengtang Town People's government was established in March 1987. Dengtang town and Tiandong town were merged in September 2002 The people's Government of Dengtang town was established. Dengtang town government is located in the original Dengtang Town, Dengtang village, next to the Feng Road, covering an area of 8000 square meters (12 mu).

Economic overview
