Shigutang town

Shigutang Town, a town under the jurisdiction of Yingde City, Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province, is located in the northwest of Yingde City, 40 kilometers away from Yingde City. It is adjacent to Hengshitang town in the East, Shilipu town and Weishe town in the south, Dawan town and BOLUO town in the west, Ruyuan grand Canyon tourist area and Guangdong Shimentai National Nature Reserve in the north. The total administrative area is 332.55 square kilometers. In 2018, the population of Shi Gu Tang registered residence was 40274.

Shigutang was established in 1369. In April 1987, it was renamed Shigutang town. As of June 2020, Shigutang town has one community and 12 administrative villages.

In 2018, Shigutang town had one industrial enterprise, including one industrial enterprise above Designated Size and three comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.

Historical evolution

Shigutang was established in 1369, the second year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty. It belongs to Yingde county and Zhenyang capital. It has jurisdiction over Yaoshan, Liyu, chenyao and liyaotu.

In the 12th year of Guangxu (1886), it belonged to the General Administration of Han Dynasty, under the jurisdiction of Yaoshan and Liyu sub bureaus.

In 1911, it was renamed Yaoshan and Liyu township.

In the 29th year of the Republic of China (1940), it belonged to the Second District Office of Yingde County, under the jurisdiction of Yaoli township.

From October 1949 to 1950, yiaoli township was under the jurisdiction of the British western district government.

In June 1950, it was under the jurisdiction of the Second District of Yingde county.

In September 1951, it was under the jurisdiction of Hongqi people's commune of Yingde county.

In April 1959, it was called Shigutang people's commune.

In July 1963, it was renamed Shigutang district office.

In April 1987, it was renamed Shigutang town.

Transportation

The lion dance

Kyushu station · Yingde tianmengou station

Kyushu station · Yingde tianmengou station, built in 2005, is the first station of Kyushu station and the hub of Guangdong Province. Tianmengou is named after the legendary Tianmen gate, which is a concave shape naturally formed at its maximum fall. Tianmengou scenic area, covering an area of 10000 mu, is located in Shimentai National Nature Reserve. It is a characteristic tourist attraction in Yingde City. Taking natural ecological landscape as the theme, it is a leisure resort integrating hot spring health preservation, sightseeing, leisure and business activities. In 2008, it was rated as national AAA scenic spot. Tianmengou is a 1000 meter high mountain gorge, which is divided into nine stations, one corridor and treehouse area. The nine stations are xianyitai, xianrenzhandao, bulaoquan, Tianjing, tiantianjinshan, houwangsquat, Tianzhong waterfall, Tianmen waterfall and Tianmen Shengjing. "One corridor" refers to "water stone corridor". There are four falls, 100 cascades, more than 5000 meters long, and 10000 cascades in the ditch. Shuwu village and shushang hot spring are the characteristics of tianmengou. There are 176 rooms including academy, combined hot spring tree house, independent hot spring tree house, shushang enclosed house, post station farm, summer resort and 19 common hot spring pools.

Jintan reservoir

Jintan reservoir is located in the Huangdong River Basin of Shigutang Town, 52 km away from the northwest of Yingde City. It has a rainfall collection area of 227 square kilometers, a dam height of 123.3 meters, a storage capacity of 249 million cubic meters, and a maximum water level of 230 meters. It is the leading reservoir of Jintan cascade (Level 9) hydropower stations. Jintan reservoir is a comprehensive benefit project with power generation (total installed capacity of 47000 kW), flood control, irrigation, tourism and breeding as supplement.
