Shidong town

Shidong town is located in the south of HUAIJI County, Zhaoqing City, Guangdong Province, covering an area of 335 square kilometers, bordering Guangning County, Deqing County and Fengkai county. It is the intersection of four counties and eight towns. Population 77315 (2016). In 2014, the fiscal revenue was 2.61 million yuan, and the rural per capita net income was 10538 yuan.

Shidong town is an old revolutionary town in Zhaoqing City. In March 1926, Shidong established the first party branch of HUAIJI County of the Communist Party of China, launched and organized the "Huainan uprising", and then established the first red political power in HUAIJI County Liulong Township People's government. After liberation, in memory of the great achievements of the 48 revolutionary martyrs who died in Pingshan (place name) for the cause of liberation at that time, Shidong Town Committee and town government built a monument and a memorial Pavilion for the revolutionary martyrs in Pingshan of Jianying village. During the revolutionary period, many heroic sons and daughters emerged in Shidong, such as Comrade Qian Xing, a revolutionary martyr of the proletariat. He once served as secretary of the Xiamen Working Committee of the CPC, Secretary of the Guangxi Provincial Committee of the CPC, deputy secretary of the Guangdong Guangxi Hunan border region working committee and Deputy political commissar of the squadron. He devoted his whole life to the revolutionary cause, and in 1948 he gave his life to the revolutionary cause. In October 1998, Qianxing Memorial School was built in Fengnan village, the hometown of Qianxing martyr. Qianxing martyr monument and memorial Pavilion were built on the right side of Qianxing Memorial School and completed in March 2007. The former residence of Qian Xing was listed as the moral education base of HUAIJI County by the county government.

On May 26, 2020, Shidong town was selected into the list of strong agricultural towns in 2020.

The town covers an area of 335 square kilometers, with 27166 hectares of forest land and 2912 hectares of cultivated land, including 1821 hectares of paddy field and 1091 hectares of dry land. Shidong town is high in the South and low in the north, surrounded by hills and a basin in the middle. The main rivers are Shidong River in the south, which originates from Baiya mountain, Liusu River in the west, and flows into YONGGU river through nanshang and Shidong river.
