Shapu Town, belonging to Dinghu District, Zhaoqing City, Guangdong Province, is located in the south of Dinghu district and the alluvial fan plain in the lower reaches of Xijiang River. It is located on the South Bank of Xijiang River and under Lingyang gorge, adjacent to Lingyang gorge in the west, Jinli town in Gaoyao District in the East, Langke mountain in the South and Langgang town in Gaoyao District in the East, and Xijiang River in the north, facing Guangli street and Yong'an town across the river. It is 21.5km long from east to west and 8.3km wide from north to south. The town covers an area of 119km2 (2017). The town has a planning area of 150ha, 12km away from 321 national highway. The town has 13 villages and 1 community, 62 villager groups and 1 resident group. The town has a mountainous area of 81000 mu, a basic farmland reserve of 57100 Mu and a total population of 19189 (2017). There are 11 industrial enterprises in the town, with a total industrial output value of 136 million yuan. The total output value of agriculture is 383 million yuan, and the total revenue is 15.17 million yuan.
In July 2020, it won the honorary title of national health Township from 2017 to 2019.
Historical evolution
In ancient times, it was a waterside depression with luxuriant water and grass. From the water, just sound. Original meaning: waterfront. Of the waterfront. Because the soil is mainly sandy, it is named "Shapu".
In the third year of Zhenghe (1113) of the Northern Song Dynasty, the Xingqing army was promoted to Xingqing Prefecture, and the village was built in Shapu town. In 1118, the first year of Chonghe in the Northern Song Dynasty, Emperor qinzong of the Song Dynasty ascended the throne of God and officially changed his fiefdom Xingqing prefecture to Zhaoqing Prefecture. Since then, the name of Zhaoqing began. From the Yuan Dynasty to the 17th year of the Yuan Dynasty (1280), Zhaoqing mansion was changed into Zhaoqing road.
In 1368, the first year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty, the Ming army conquered Zhaoqing, and Zhaoqing road was called Zhaoqing mansion again. In the Ming Dynasty, Xiang Township capital map system was widely implemented. Dinghu belonged to Xiawei Township and Qinren township of Gaoyao County, while Shapu mainly belonged to touxi capital and Dianshui capital of Qinren township.
In the first year of Shunzhi (1644) of the Qing Dynasty, Qing soldiers entered the pass, but the southwest and Southeast provinces were still under the jurisdiction of Nanming. In the eighth year of Shunzhi (652), Shapu began to be under the control of the Qing Dynasty. From the early Qing Dynasty to Daoguang years, it followed the Ming system. In the fifth year of Xianfeng (1855), Gaoyao county was divided into five classes to collect grain, and Dinghu belonged to four classes. Shapu town was divided into three parts: taoxidu, shapudu and dianshuidu. In 1904, five classes in Gaoyao county were divided into nine districts. Dinghu was the first district of touban, wenmingbao, and the sixth and seventh districts of fourth class in Gaoyao county. Taoxi, Shapu and Dianshui belong to DuPu under the six districts.
In the early period of the Republic of China, the system of Qing Dynasty was followed. In 1928, China carried out the district township system and changed DuPu Township into township (Taoxi Township, Shapu Township and Dianshui township). In 1937, townships and towns were reorganized. In October 1943, Gaoyao County abandoned town and township, and Shapu belonged to touxi Township in the fourth district.
On May 25, 1949, the people's Government of Gaoyao county was established. From September 1949 to March 1953, Shapu town (touxi township) was the Fourth District of Gaoyao county. On March 5, 1953, the division of Gaoyao county was adjusted, and Shapu was divided into eight districts of Gaoyao county. In February 1955, the eighth and ninth districts were renamed Guangli district and Yong'an district respectively, and their jurisdiction over townships remained unchanged. Shapu belonged to Guangli district at this time. In August 1955, the eighth and Ninth District People's governments were changed to district offices, and the Township People's governments were changed to Township People's committees. In March 1957, small townships merged with big townships, and each township in Guangli District merged into Guangli Township, Wenyuan Township, Guiyuan Township, Jiukeng Township, touxi Township, and Guangli town. The jurisdiction of each district remained unchanged. In March 1958, the district system was abolished and the townships were merged into Guangli Township, Yong'an Township and touxi township. The people's commune was established in October 1958. On October 1, 1958, Guangli, Yong'an and Shapu townships merged to form Guangxing people's commune. On July 20, 1959, Guangxing people's commune was reorganized into three people's communes: Guangli, Yong'an and Shapu. In March 1968, the revolutionary committees of Guangli, Yong'an and Shapu communes were established. In November 1986, the district was removed to build a town, which was called Shapu town of Gaoyao county. On January 7, 1988, the State Council approved the establishment of Dinghu District of Zhaoqing City. On January 28, 1988, the people's Government of Guangdong Province approved and put Shapu town under the jurisdiction of Dinghu district.
