Lugang town
Lugang town is located in the southeast of Chaonan District, Shantou City, Guangdong Province, at the junction of Chaoyang District and Chaonan district. It borders Heping Town of Chaoyang District in the East, Xiashan street in the north, Liangying town in the West and Chengtian town in the south. National Highway 324, provincial highway and Hui highway and Chensha highway pass through the territory. The town has a total area of 50.24 square kilometers (in 2017), a cultivated area of 22447 Mu and a mountainous area of 26935 mu. It has jurisdiction over 15 Village (neighborhood) committees and a total population of 149491 people (in 2017). It is a famous hometown of overseas Chinese.

Economic situation
In 2003, the town's GDP was 850 million yuan, an increase of 12.1% over 2002; the total agricultural output value was 92 million yuan, an increase of 2.2%; the total industrial output value was 2.05 billion yuan, an increase of 26.6%; the industrial and commercial tax revenue was 18.15 million yuan, an increase of 18.4%, including value-added tax of 12.87 million yuan and local tax of 5.28 million yuan, an increase of 18.4% and 18.39% respectively; the rural per capita net income was 3228 yuan.
In 2008, the total regional output value was 1.52 billion yuan, an increase of 5.7%; the total industrial output value was 4.296 billion yuan, an increase of 12.8%; the total agricultural output value was 140 million yuan, an increase of 14.7%; the rural per capita net income was 3935 yuan, an increase of 5.2%; the industrial and commercial tax was 85.91 million yuan, an increase of 36.3%, of which the value-added tax was 61.97 million yuan, an increase of 35.3%; the local tax was 23.94 million yuan, an increase of 38.9%.
The industrial economy continued to grow. In the years after 2008, the town invested 152 million yuan, introduced 18 advanced production lines from Germany, Japan, Taiwan and other countries and regions, produced 350 sets of production equipment, developed 21 economic projects, and transformed 11 traditional weaving and clothing industries. Lugang Town Industrial Park in Chaonan district is located in the south of National Highway 324 (Guangshan highway). The original planning area is 300 mu. Infrastructure construction is improving and the investment environment is further optimized. National Highway 324 passes through the northeast corner of the town and enters Heping Town, Chaoyang District. Kuihe highway, the provincial highway 237 connecting National Highway 324, runs through the town center from north to south, and Chensha highway passes through the town. In the years after 2008, Lugang town invested more than 23 million yuan to reconstruct Luxin bridge, sihuangchai bridge and Xiwei Miyun bridge, repair and pave Sihe Road, Houan road and Wufeng road; expand Luxi water plant, build Shanglong reservoir and replace town water supply pipeline; connect high-voltage lines of Houan and Wufeng mountain villages, and start construction of 110000 volt transmission substation.
