Henggang Street
Henggang street, belonging to Longgang District, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, is located in the core area of the Eastern Center of Shenzhen. It is the middle point between the East and the west of Longgang. It is adjacent to Longgang central city and Dayun new city in the north, Luohu in the south, Yuanshan street in the East, Pinghu and Nanwan streets in the West. It covers a total area of 23.1 square kilometers, 18 kilometers away from the center of Shenzhen and only 20 kilometers away from Hong Kong. As of October 2019, Henggang street has nine communities under its jurisdiction. As of June 2020, the number of residents in Henggang streets was 252 thousand, and the registered residence population was 26 thousand.
Henggang street is an area where Hakkas live together. There are many ancient buildings and villages. It is a cultural relic town in Shenzhen. Maosheng Shiju, built in the early years of Jiaqing Dynasty, is a provincial cultural relic protection unit in Shenzhen. Shenzhen has the largest square of social dance floor, known as the "hometown of social dance.". With a group of local well-known writers, Longgang College of Arts has settled in Henggang.
In 2017, Henggang Street achieved a GDP of 15.687 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.5%.
Historical evolution
In the early Qing Dynasty, there was henggangwei village.
Henggangwei was built in Jiaqing period, belonging to Xin'an County.
During the period of the Republic of China, Henggang was a township of Huiyang county.
After the founding of new China, Henggang township was subordinate to the Second District of Huiyang county,
In November 1951, it was transferred to the third district.
In October 1958, it merged with Longgang township to form Longgang commune. In November of the same year, Longgang commune was transferred to Bao'an county.
In 1959, Henggang commune separated from Longgang commune.
In July 1983, the commune was changed into Henggang district.
In October 1986, Henggang Town was established.
In January 1993, Baoan county was divided into Baoan District and Longgang District, and Henggang Town was subordinate to Longgang District.
In 2004, Henggang was removed from town and set up streets, which are still under the jurisdiction of Longgang District.
On December 26, 2016, Henggang street was divided into two streets, Henggang and Yuanshan.

The origin of place names
Henggang is named for its hills lying on the road. According to legend, when Liu Bowen led his troops to BOLUO in the Ming Dynasty, he said: "Henggang is the belly of the dragon, and it will be prosperous in the future."

Maosheng Shiju
Maosheng Shiju, located at 169 Maosheng Road, Henggang street, Longgang District, is a traditional Hakka enclosed house with western style. Maosheng Shiju was built in the Jiaqing period of Qing Dynasty (1796-1820), with a history of about 200 years. The enclosed house is a rectangular enclosed building with a transverse width of 81 meters and a longitudinal length of 78 meters. The surrounding walls are 7 meters high and 70 cm thick, with a construction area of 6318 square meters and an area of more than 10000 square meters. On July 17, 2002, the people's Government of Guangdong Province announced Maosheng Shiju as the fourth batch of cultural relics protection units in Guangdong Province.
