Simaqiao town is located in the southeast of Dao County, Yongzhou City, Hunan Province, between 111 ° 42 ′ 12 ″ - 111 ° 51 ′ 17 ″ east longitude and 25 ° 19 ′ 15 ″ - 25 ° 27 ′ 32 ″ north latitude, 33 km away from the county. It borders Shuishi town of Ningyuan County in the East, hongtangying Yao Township in the south, Hengling Yao Township and Longba town in the west, and baimangpu town and Tiantang town of Ningyuan County in the north. The highway from the county seat to Xiangyuan hot spring scenic spot traverses its territory. The simple highway extends in all directions, and the traffic is very convenient.
The town government is 30 kilometers away from the county seat, with a total area of 120.7 square kilometers and a population of 38600. It governs 20 administrative villages, 1 neighborhood committee, 27 Party (general) branches, a total of 1092 party members, 244 villager groups, 9653 farmers and 29000 mu of cultivated land, including 21000 mu of paddy field and 8000 mu of dry land. There are karst landforms, Daonan academy, and smooth highways in all directions. It is an important agricultural and sideline products distribution center in the southeast of Daoxian County, an important grain producing area in the county, and a main tobacco producing area.
Evolution of organizational system
The town government is located in simaqiao village. In 1820, it belonged to Jiangju township of Daozhou; in 1935, it belonged to the four southern districts of Daoxian County; in 1938, it belonged to Shengde township; in 1951, it set up simaqiao township; in October 1958, it was part of Dongfeng people's commune; in May 1961, it set up the eighth district (stationed in simaqiaowei), which governed four people's communes, namely, simaqiao, Yangjia, dapingling and hongtangying In 1968, the eighth district was withdrawn; in 1969, the people's commune of simaqiao was restored; in April 1984, the township was built by the commune, and the four townships of simaqiao, Yangjia, dapingling and hongtangying were under the jurisdiction of simaqiao district; in June 1995, the district was withdrawn and the township was merged, and simaqiao Township and Yang Township were merged into simaqiao town.
