Youtingwei town is located in the northeast of Lingling District, Yongzhou City, Hunan Province, China, 20 kilometers away from Lingling city. It is bounded by Lengshuitan in the north, Shuangpai County in the south, Qiyang County in the East, Luqiao town and lingjiaotang town in the West. It is a border town of four counties. There are 6 small hydropower stations, agricultural machinery repair plants, building materials plants, bamboo and wood processing plants and other township enterprises. There are 7 middle schools, 8 primary schools and 11 medical institutions. There are Neolithic human settlement sites in laojiangqiao village, such as stone axe, stone knife, stone shovel, stone chair, etc. Liu Zongyuan's tour of the Yellow River refers to the present huangjiangyuan scenic spot in youtingwei Town, where the mountains are continuous, the cliffs are thousands of feet, the clouds are transpiration, the mountains are flowing, the waterfalls are flying, showing the world the masculine beauty of huangjiangyuan, and it is a holy land for leisure tourism.

In the Qing Dynasty, it got its name because of the "Post Pavilion" built at the South Street. It has rolling hills, Kuishan on the west side, like a pyramid. Huangxi river flows from south to north with clear streams. It is one of the earliest developed market towns in ancient Lingling county and the largest rice market at that time. At the beginning of liberation, the territory was divided into five districts with a total of 11 townships; when the districts were withdrawn and merged in 1956, it was divided into Futian, youtingwei, Jiyi and Meixi townships; when the people's commune was transformed into a people's commune in 1958, it was divided into Datong, Weixing and Guangming communes; in 1961, it was restored to be youtingwei district with eight communes, namely, Baitang, Jiyi, youtingwei, yangjiaxiang, Futian, tongziping, Meixi and zhengjiaqiao; in 1984, it was designated as Baitang Yitang Town, Lengshuitan township; Jiyi Township, jielvqiao Town, was designated in 1995; in June 1995, Meixi, zhengjiaqiao, Futian, tongziping, yangjiaxiang five townships and the original youtingwei town were merged into youtingwei town. In October 1998, in order to speed up the pace of urban construction, the new town was relocated to taipingpu village.

Geographical location

The total area of the town is 330.04 square kilometers (2017), with 4925 hectares of arable land and 34269 people (2017). Yangming Mountain is rich in primitive forest resources. Bamboo and wood are abundant on the mountain. At the foot of the mountain, nanmuyuan, huangjiangyuan, damuyuan and xiaomuyuan flow into huangxihe river. They flow through Qiyang and flow into Xiangjiang River. The soil on both sides is fertile. The famous Futian Dadong stretches for more than 10 kilometers.
