Huatang town
Huatang town is located in the west of Beihu District, Chenzhou City. It is adjacent to Chenjiang Township and suburban township in the East, Baohe Township in the south, Zhenghe Township, Chengjiao Township and Tuanjie Township in Guiyang County in the west, Tonghe Township and Heyeping Township in Suxian District in the north. It is 16 kilometers away from the urban area. Provincial highway 1806, Chenjia railway and Chengui high-grade highway run through the whole town. The total area is 172.6 square kilometers (2017).
Huatang town has 21 administrative villages and 2 communities. Population 30189 (2017). It mainly produces grain, flue-cured tobacco, fruits, vegetables and coal. It is an important agricultural town in Beihu district.
History of construction
In the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, Huatang was Jiyang township of Chen county. In 1949, Huatang was an organic Township, belonging to Chen county. In 1958, it was renamed Huatang people's commune. In 1984, Huatang people's commune was changed into Huatang town. In 1995, it was included in Beihu district. In April 2012, Huatang town was merged with Tonghe township to establish Huatang town.
