Pingnan town
Pingnan Town, a town under the jurisdiction of Longquan City, Zhejiang Province, is located in the south end of Longquan City, Southwest Zhejiang Province. It is adjacent to Longnan Township in the East, Qingyuan County in the south, Xiaomei and Chatian towns in the west, and Lanju Township in the north. Oujiang River is located at the junction of Longquan and Qingyuan.

Pingnan town is named Pingnan because it is located in the south of the county and has wumianjian mountain, which looks like a natural barrier. The Qing Dynasty is a capital of Yanqing township. In 1938, it was called kulong township. On the eve of liberation, it was Pingnan Township, belonging to Chatian district. In 1951, it was divided into Pingnan and Ruilong townships. In 1958, it was the Pingnan management area of Pingnan (DA) commune. In 1961, it was renamed Pingnan commune, belonging to Pingnan district. In 1977, Pingnan district was abolished and classified as Chengnan district. In 1980, Pingnan forest district was restored, which still belongs to Pingnan district. In May 1984, it was renamed Pingnan township. In December 1990, the township was removed to build a town.
In April 1992, Pingnan forest district was removed and Junxi Township and Ruilong Township were merged. In 1997, with an area of 285 square kilometers and a population of 10000, it has jurisdiction over 28 administrative villages including pingtianli, pingtianye, kuhoukeng, chepankeng, dishe, nanlongpu, zhoudai, Junyi, Lisa, Tangshan, Shangshe, Jinlin, Junshan, wushulong, JUNHE, Jinlong, Hengxi, Baibu, hengkengtou, Nanxing, nanxikou, DONGSHANTOU, Ganshang, longshun, ruizhulong, Shangen and zhupenghou.

The town government is located in pingtian (pingtianli Village), which is nearly 50 km away from the urban area. It governs three administrative districts, including Pingnan, Ruiyang and Junxi, 28 administrative villages and 37 natural villages, with a total population of 1889 (2017). The town is located at an altitude of 1080 meters, which is the highest built town in Zhejiang Province. It is closely connected with Fengyang mountain, a national nature reserve with beautiful scenery, and Dahuang Lianshan mountain echoes "the first peak in Jiangsu and Zhejiang". the total area of the town is 268.06 square kilometers (2017), with 9277 mu of paddy field, 374364 mu of mountain forest, 1831900 cubic meters of timber stock, and 66000 mu of mountainous area available. Longquan is the largest forest county in Zhejiang Province, known as "Jiangnan forest sea". The city has 3.98 million mu of forest land, 14.56 million cubic meters of forest stock, more than 1800 plant species, 260000 cubic meters of commercial timber per year, ranking first in the province in terms of four indicators, and 1.63 million mu of ecological public welfare forest, ranking first in the province. The forest coverage rate is 84.2%, 66% higher than that of the whole country and 23.7% higher than that of the whole province. Phyllostachys pubescens resources are "one treasure in Longquan". The existing Phyllostachys pubescens forest area is 550000 mu, which is the second largest bamboo township in Zhejiang Province.
