Qihe town is located in the northwest of Taoyuan County, Hunan Province, 40 kilometers away from the county, bordering Mazongling town and Jiaqiao town in the East, fengshu Township and Taipingqiao in the south, huangjiapu and Jiuxi Township in the west, and Shuangxikou in the north. It covers an area of 155 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 51 villages, 4 neighborhood committees, 500 villager groups and 84000 people. 306 provincial road and Baiyang River, a tributary of Yuanshui River, run through it. Historical evolution
Before liberation, Qihe town belonged to three townships of Qihe, Molin and Moxi. After liberation, it belonged to the Sixth District, with 12 villages including Qihe, Fangma, Zhanqi, huangpodian, luchangqiao, longchangsi, huayanhe, Duoqi, Shizi, Jubao, Tianbao and Fuxing under its jurisdiction. In January 1951, Qihe town was established as one of the five towns in Taoyuan. In 1956, Qihe was merged into Qihe Township and became two townships of Qihe and huangpodian. In September 1958, the Taoyuan County Committee of the Communist Party of China carried out the pilot project of establishing people's communes in Qihe Township and huangpodian township. On September 11, Qihe people's commune, the first people's commune in Taoyuan, was established. In August 1961, Qihe people's commune was re divided into Qihe commune, Chongyang commune and huangpodian commune In June 1968, Qihe town was abolished as Qihe brigade, which was subordinate to Qihe commune. On August 22, 1981, Qihe brigade separated from Qihe commune and restored to County town. Qihe town belongs to Huangshi reservoir irrigation area, where Baiyang River and Maxi River converge. It is rich in hydraulic resources.
