Historical evolution

Ganxitan town was Tongshan township at the beginning of liberation. In August 1952, it was divided into four townships of Guyan, Ganxi, Yanmen and Yuechi, belonging to sixteen districts. In June 1956, Guyan and Ganxi merged into ganxitan township. In September 1958, ganxitan, Maxi and Qunshan were merged into Dongmen people's Commune and Qunshan people's commune. In July 1961, Dongmen and Taiqing (Qun Gang) communes were divided into Ganxi, Maxi, Dongmen and Taiqing communes, belonging to the newly established Ganxi district. In April 1984, it was changed into a rural cooperative. In June, Ganxi township was changed to ganxitan town. In October 1995, ganxitan town was merged with Maxi town. It is still ganxitan town.
