Kangwang Township

Kangwang township is located in Yueyang Economic and Technological Development Zone, Hunan Province. The township was Zhonghe Township in the period of the Republic of China. At the beginning of the founding of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to one district and then three districts. In 1956, it became Wujiang, Meixi and Xinkai. In 1958, it belonged to Matang and Meixi communes respectively. In 1961, Kangwang and Wujiang communes were established. In 1981, the Yueyang part of Meixi district was changed to Kangwang District, and the township belonged to Kangwang and Wujiang communes. In 1984, the commune was changed to township. In 1995, Kangwang and Wujiang were merged into Kangwang township. On March 21, 2010, with the approval of the State Council, Yueyang Economic and Technological Development Zone was officially upgraded to a national economic and Technological Development Zone.
