Houpo town

Houpo town is located in the southeast of Xichuan County, Nanyang City, Henan Province, at the junction of Dengzhou, Neixiang and Xichuan. Houpo town was subordinate to Deng county (now Dengzhou city) for a long time in history, and was assigned to Xichuan County in December 1972. Houpo town used to be one of the four big towns in Deng county (Jitan, Linba, Houpo and Zhangcun), but it was one of the four big towns in Xichuan County after it was assigned to Xichuan County. Houpo town has a land area of 154 square kilometers (2017), with 134000 mu of cultivated land. It has jurisdiction over 44 administrative villages and 516 villager groups with a total population of 93568 (in 2017). It is adjacent to Jiulong Town, Zhangcun town and Shilin Town of Dengzhou city in the East, Shigang town and wating town of Neixiang County in the north, jiuzhong town of the county in the south, Xianghua town of the county in the west, canal head of the middle route of South to North Water Diversion and Danjiangkou Reservoir area. The whole town belongs to Diaohe River Basin.

Historical evolution

In the early spring and Autumn period, it was the junction of Chu, Gu and Deng. Later, it was the territory of Chu.

During the Han, Wei and southern and Northern Dynasties, most of the time they belonged to Nanyang County of Jingzhou, while a few of them belonged to Hongnong County, Nanxiang County, Shunyang county and Xiyang County respectively.

In the 13th year of emperor Dezong of Tang Dynasty, Wu Shaocheng built Diaohe city (now the northeast of luzui Village) in the area.

Houpo town historically belonged to Dengzhou, Henan Province (now Dengzhou city).

Houpo commune was established in 1958, and three villages originally belonging to Xichuan, Zhaozhai, RaoXi and raoying, were under the jurisdiction of Houpo.

In 1984, Houpo commune was changed into Houpo township.

With the initial completion of the Middle Route Project of South to North Water Diversion in the early 1970s, Danjiangkou reservoir inundated a large area of land in Xichuan. In December 1972, 56 production teams and 573 production teams of jiuzhong and Houpo communes in Deng county were assigned to Xichuan County.

Houpo township was upgraded to Houpo town in 1994.

Diaohechuan is named for its location in the Diaohe River Basin. Traditionally, it refers to the area along Diaohe River in Weiji district. It starts from beizhanglou in the north and from Fuying village committee in the south. In the east of Diaohe, there are seven administrative villages, namely beiwanggang, Zhangzhai, Yanying, sunzhai, Lugang, Wangzhai and xiezigou. In the west of Diaohe, there are nine administrative villages, namely Chenying, qiwan, xiaowangying, daliuying, Weiji, Gangxi, HUPO, baiba and Fuying. This area is rich in land, commonly known as a place where oil comes from one foot. It is densely populated. Dangyan River

The tributary of Diaohe river flows into the Diaohe River in the southeast of luzui village. It is named after dangyan, an ancient water conservancy project. Qianhe

Diaohe tributary flows through the Neolithic site in Qianhe village, the south of the original social settlement.
