The predecessor of Xinxiang economic development zone is the "West Zone of Xinxiang high tech Industrial Development Zone" approved by Henan Provincial People's Government (yuzhengwen [2002] No. 168) in November 2002. In December 2005, when the State Council carried out the clean-up and rectification of the Development Zone, the first batch of development zones passed the examination and were renamed as the current name. Regional overview

Xinxiang economic and Technological Development Zone was founded in 2003 and was recognized as a national economic and Technological Development Zone by the State Council in 2012. The development zone is located in the east of Xinxiang City, 8.5km away from the main urban area. It is located in the core area of the secondary central city of Zhengzhou metropolitan area and the radiation core area of Zhengzhou airport.

On December 8, the national development and Reform Commission announced the first batch of 651 development zones in eight provinces, including 15 in Henan Province. Henan Xinxiang high tech West Zone was definitely renamed as Henan Xinxiang Economic Development Zone, with the level of Provincial Development Zone.

In April 2006, it was officially recognized as a provincial Development Zone.
