Lanling Town, located in the south of Shandong Province, is subordinate to Lanling County, Linyi City, Shandong Province. It is the vice center of Lanling county and a famous historical and cultural town dominated by Lanling liquor industry.

Historical evolution

In the Warring States period, Lanling county was first established in the state of Chu. In 255 BC, Xunzi, a famous thinker and educator, was invited by Chunshen, the Prime Minister of Chu, to serve as Lanling magistrate for nearly 20 years. Later, he lived in Lanling and wrote books. After his death, he was buried in Lanling.
Since then, Lanling county has been established in successive dynasties, and Lanling town was established in Northern Song Dynasty, belonging to Cheng county (today's Yicheng District of Zaozhuang City).
