Beima town is the transportation hub in the west of Huangxian County, and its strategic position is very important. In 1911, after the 1911 Revolution, Shandong declared "independence". On January 15, 1912, Xu Jing, the leader of Shandong alliance, occupied Dengzhou (now Penglai) by the revolutionary army and established a military government. The next day, troops were sent to occupy Huangxian County, the county civil affairs department was established, and Beima town was stationed. Ye Changsheng, the commander-in-chief of Laizhou of the Qing army, found out that the revolutionary soldiers were weak, so he led the soldiers to seize Huangshan Pavilion, occupy Beima town again, and planned to attack Huangcheng county. Xu Jing hastily led more than 200 members of the revolutionary army to Dengzhou for reinforcement, and called the Nanjing government for help. Huang Xing, the chief of the army, immediately ordered the vanguard of the Shanghai army to reinforce from the west of Yantai. On January 27, 1912, the elite of the Shanghai army and the death squads of the Lu army attacked Beima in the snow. They were ambushed at Dagou, 1km east of Beima Town, and rushed to fight. At dusk, they repulsed the enemy and annihilated more than 20 of them. In the early morning of the 29th, the Qing army of huangshanguan concentrated its forces to attack from the west, North and south, and then attacked Beima again. The battle was quite fierce. The revolutionary army in the northwest suffered heavy casualties. At the critical moment, the revolutionary army's death squads arrived. At 7 o'clock, the Qing army was defeated. At 11:00, the enemy's reinforcements arrived again, and the revolutionary army had to retreat eastward. Liu Jiyan, the civil army in Huangcheng City, learned that Beima had fallen. He immediately led a battalion, two cannons and two machine guns, and arrived in time to defeat the enemy. The revolutionary army recaptured Beima town again.

In November 1956, the remains of the martyrs in the battle of Beima during the 1911 Revolution were transferred to Fenghuangshan martyrs cemetery.
