Chengtang town belongs to Yifeng County, Yichun City, Jiangxi Province. It is located in the southeast of Yifeng County, Yichun City, Jiangxi Province. It is adjacent to Tangpu town in the East, Shanggao County in the south, aoqiao Township and Tianbao Township in the west, Huaqiao Township and Tongan Township in the north. It spans 35 km from north to south, 12 km from east to west, and covers a total area of 180 square kilometers. As of 2005, the town has 22 village committees, 1 neighborhood committee and 218 villager groups. The town center is located at n28 ° 25 ′ 19.74 ″ N and E114 ° 55 ′ 0.17 ″ E. At the end of July 2016, Chengtang town achieved a total revenue of 59.86 million yuan. The resident population was 21010 (2017).
Historical evolution
Tao Yuanming, a poet of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, was born in Nanshan village. Before 981, Chengtang was mainly located in Shanggao county. In the sixth year of the Taiping reign of the Song Dynasty, half of Yijun Township in Gaoxian county (commonly known as shangyijun) entered Yanbu town. Xinchang County was established in the same year, which became Yijun Township, one of the seven townships in the county at that time. In July 1930, it was divided into five and six districts, with 16 townships. In 1939, the townships were divided into Xinxing Township, xuxing Township, Banqiao Township and Jiangzhou Township, with 21 townships. In 1946, Hetang Township, Xinmin Township and Xuliang Township were under their jurisdiction until liberation. He was liberated in July 1949, and the township was divided into Chengguan District and Tangpu district. In May of the next year, it belonged to Xinhe district. The township was divided into tochia, Xinxing, pailou, Chengtang, Gucun, Pengcha, Pitou and other townships. In 1956, it was merged into Chengtang and Yingtang townships, under which there were senior agricultural production cooperatives, 9 in Chengtang and 6 in Yingtang. In October 1958, people's communes were established in the two townships respectively, and the integration of townships and communities was implemented. In 1960, there were 22 brigades in Chengtang and 16 brigades in Yingtang. In the winter of 1968, Chengtang and Yingtang merged into Chengtang commune, and then they were divided into two brigades, namely Baishu and Heping, from Jiangzhou. In 1983, the commune was renamed Township, the production team was renamed village, and the production team was renamed villager group. In 1990, the township had 20 village committees and 217 villager groups. In December 1999, Chengtang township was set up as a town.
