Xingjiang Township

Xingjiang Township, subordinate to Xingguo County, Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the northeast of Xingguo County. It borders Qingtang town of Ningdu County in the East, gulonggang town in the southwest, Nankeng Township in the northwest and Caijiang township of Ningdu County in the north. The township covers a total area of 156 square kilometers, with jurisdiction over 2 communities, 11 administrative villages and 154 villager groups. In late 2018, Xingjiang Township had a registered residence population of 28 thousand and 800.

Historical evolution

During the period of the Republic of China, it belonged to Heping Township, Longgang District, Xingguo County.

After the founding of the people's Republic of China, it was Jiangkou, Shancun, Tonglin, Tangbei, yetian and other townships in Longgang District; in 1952, it was Jiangkou district; in 1957, it was huakuang Town, Jiangkou and Tonglin Township in Longgang District; in 1958, it was Longgang commune; in 1959, it was restored; in 1961, Jiangkou commune was separated from Longgang commune (huakuang town was withdrawn and merged); in 1974, it was separated from huakuang town; in 1983, it was Jiangkou commune Xingkou commune was renamed Xingjiang commune.

In 1984, Xingjiang commune was changed into Xingjiang township.

In April 2001, chenye town was abolished and its jurisdiction was merged into Xingjiang township.

Famous people

Li Yuanpei (1908-1991) was born in Jiangkou Village, Xingjiang township. During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, he served as platoon commander, company commander, deputy battalion commander and section chief of the Red Army. In July 1937, he entered Yan'an Anti Japanese university to study. During the Anti Japanese War, he served as chief of the general affairs section of the General Political Department of the Military Commission, student of the military academy, director of the Political Department of the Pingjiang independent regiment of the 359 brigade, and chief of staff of the fifth division of the New Fourth Army. During the war of liberation, he served as the head of Liaodong independent regiment of Anton military region, the section chief of Anton military region, the station chief of Liaodong military region general station, the section chief of Harbin General Logistics Department, and the political commissar of logistics supply department of 15th division of the 50th army. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, he served as the logistics political commissar of Fuzhou and Ji'an military divisions of Jiangxi military region, and the political commissar of the fifth rehabilitation hospital of the Chinese people's Volunteer Army.
