History and culture
Xingguo folk song
The Xingguo folk song originated from the song sung by the Muke of Shangluo Mountain in the late Qin Dynasty. During the Tang and Song Dynasties, with the southward migration of the Hakka ancestors in the Central Plains, it permeated with the Central Plains culture and evolved into the Xingguo folk song that has been handed down to the present day. Xingguo folk songs are full-bodied and lively in various forms. They are composed of solo, duel, carousel, and "three strike irons". The basic format is seven characters and four sentences. The first sentence of each song is "ouah le", and the last sentence is "brother comrade" (or sweetheart sister). During the period of the Soviet Area, Xingguo folk song became the clarion call of the military and civilian fighting in the Soviet Area, and played an important role in propaganda and agitation for the revolutionary war. In the folk song, Xingguo's children formed the Red Army's "Xingguo model division", "Shaogong international division" and "central guard division", leaving behind a historical story of "three divisions in one folk song". In 2006, Xingguo folk song was listed in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage protection list with the approval of the State Council.
