Banzai

Banzai town is one of the first batch of science and technology demonstration towns in Fujian Province and 22 key towns in Zhangzhou city. Now it has jurisdiction over 15 Village (neighborhood) committees, 196 natural villages and 210 villager groups.

Banzai town is located in the hinterland of the golden triangle in Southern Fujian. It is 112 kilometers away from Xiamen City, 150 kilometers away from Shantou City and 12 kilometers away from Pinghe county. Surrounded by green hills on all sides, the central part of the river runs through, belonging to semi plain and semi hilly areas.

In 2017, the administrative area was 13367 hectares, with 44911 permanent residents.

In November 2017, Banzai town was awarded the fifth national civilized village.

Banzai town is located in the southeast of Pinghe County, upstream of Huashan River, and in the hinterland of the golden triangle in Southern Fujian. It is known as "the hometown of banana in China". The agricultural economy here is highly developed. There are 35000 Mu bananas with an annual output of 100000 tons, accounting for 70% of the total output of the county. Guanxi pomelo, with a planting area of 50000 Mu and an annual output of more than 80000 tons, is the main production base exported to the European Union.

Xikeng new village has more than 120 modern farmer's homes, which are divided into several small areas. They are built according to the mountain situation. They are located in the mountains with an altitude of 1000 meters, which is really spectacular. The buildings in the new village are bright and tidy, with modern flavor. The distance between buildings is reasonable, and there is sufficient sunshine, green space and activity space. Former residence of Lin Yutang

Mr. Lin Yutang, a master of modern literature, was born in Banzai Town, Pinghe on October 10, 1895, and spent a wonderful childhood here. This is a place where Mr. Lin Yutang was "haunted" all his life. Now it has attracted a large number of people from cultural circles and mass media circles at home and abroad to visit. It is believed that Lin Yutang's former residence and the Lin Yutang library to be built will become a hot spot to promote cultural exchanges between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait and between China and the west, and will also become a major resort for peaceful tourism.

On the way from Pinghe county to Lingtong scenic spot, we have to pass Banzai Town, the "hometown of bananas in China". Banzai town is famous for its banana production. At the same time, it is also the birthplace of Lin Yutang, a famous modern writer, which attracts many Chinese and foreign tourists to visit here. Lin Yutang's former residence is on the campus of Banzai Central Primary School. The original site of the campus is Banzai chapel.

Lin Zhicheng, the first pastor of the chapel, was the father of Lin Yutang. The chapel was originally a garden style building, in which there are two chapels, one big and one small, as well as the Bible building, Deacon's room and other ancillary buildings. The buildings are connected with each other, and the winding paths lead to seclusion. It has both the characteristics of Western architecture and the beauty of Chinese gardens. The chapel has been in disrepair for a long time, but the birthplace of Lin Yutang is still well preserved.

This is a small bungalow in the shape of "the same". The bungalows are connected with each other. They are single story and only one on the right corner has a building. It is said that Lin Yutang was born in that building on October 10, 1895. There is a well in the middle of the "same" shaped house, which is just the "middle of the mouth" in the "same". The well was originally surrounded by cobbles and stone slabs, but now it has been changed into a pumping well. Beside the well, there is a monument of "drinking water to think of the source" in memory of Mr. Lin Yutang, which was set up by Banzai Town People's government.

The "Tong" shaped bungalow has been opened as a memorial room for Mr. Lin Yutang. Many photos and materials about Mr. Lin are displayed in the bungalow, which are very precious. Visitors can have a good look.

Mr. Lin Yutang is a famous modern writer, scholar and translator. He has written many works in his life. He has published more than 30 works, such as "cloud in Beijing", "my country and my people", "Yutang anthology", "I see and I hear", "Kaiming English reader", "new Kaiming Yutang English reader", "red peony" and "Lai Baiying". In 1975, he was promoted as vice president of international pen association and was nominated As a candidate for the Nobel Prize in literature, he became a celebrity in the international literary world. Banzai is the place where Lin Yutang was "haunted" in his life. He once said in the Autobiography of the eighties: "if I have some sound ideas and simple thoughts, it is completely due to the beautiful mountain Mausoleum of Banzai in Minnan, because I believe I still look at life with the eyes of a simple peasant disciple.".
