Historical evolution
In the Song Dynasty, it belonged to changleli, a guest township. In the Ming Dynasty, it belonged to Guantang and Houxi, two "Li" of the seventeen capitals. In the Shunzhi period of the early Qing Dynasty, the original two "Li" of Guantang and Houxi were changed to "Bao", and in the 39th year of Kangxi, they were changed to three "Li" of Houxi, Guantang and zhaojiacheng. At that time, "Huxi" did not become the general place name, only Yianbao, where the surname Huang lived, was called Huxi city. Later, "Huxi" gradually became the general place name. In the eighth year of Tongzhi, binmin, the county magistrate of Zhangpu, wrote a poem "Huxi township", which said: "looking at the Huxi pagoda, there are hundreds of residents. The clear light moves the sea atmosphere, the beautiful sun goes to Jinsha, Dai Tushan is more beautiful, planting pine road turns to credit, and Yuhang is an old tourist site. This scene is dark."
In the early years of the Republic of China, Huxi belonged to the outer East region with Fotan as the center (changed to the fifth autonomous region in 17 and the third region in 24). Huxi township was established in the 29th year of the Republic of China.
At the beginning of liberation, it belonged to the Sixth District (Chihu District). In 1952, it was divided into the Tenth District (Huxi District) from the Sixth District. In September 1958, Huxi was the Huxi administrative district of Chihu commune. In July 1961, the administrative district was abolished and Huxi commune was established. On July 26, 1984, Huxi she township was established with the approval of Fujian provincial government. The founding meeting was held on October 7, 1984.

Now the township has jurisdiction over 10 administrative villages, namely, Chengnei, Suxi, Lingjiao, Fengqing, Fenglin, zhaojiacheng, Shanhou, Houxi, Dingtan and Houdong.

infrastructure
Water conservancy, transportation, telecommunications and other facilities
The western part of the lake is a basin surrounded by mountains on all sides. The mountain springs converge into many streams. Except for the south flow of Houdong stream into Meili reservoir, most of them converge at the foot of Zhongxin mountain, flow through Houxi stream, and go to sea through Chihu lake to the East. Since the Qing Dynasty, the villagers have worked together to build many weirs to irrigate the fields, but most of them are in disrepair for a long time. Since the founding of the people's Republic of China, especially in the 1960s and 1970s, Daxing water conservancy construction has successively built two small type-1 reservoirs in Taishan and Xiaodao, four small type-2 reservoirs in Lingding, gusaodong, liaosikeng and xiasu, and many water diversion projects in Shanhou Shili and Chengzi Shipi, so that the farmland in the west of the lake can basically maintain the income from drought and flood. In addition, small hydropower stations such as Chifeng and Sijun were built by using the fall of weir. Today, Huxi highway traffic extends in all directions. There is a county road "huofo line" (Huoshaopu Fotan) across the countryside, connecting Shanjiu line (Provincial Road) in the West and Zhangdong line (Provincial Road) in the East. There are also the township roads from Huxi to Chihu and Huxi to Chiling, and the Zhangzhao expressway runs through the north and south of the township, and the interchange is set in Huxi, which will become one of the highway transportation hubs in our county. There is a 35 kV Substation in the west of the lake, with sufficient power. The mobile phone signal station and 10000 program-controlled telephones have been opened. There is a water plant with a daily output of 3000 tons.

tourist resources
There are many places of interest in the west of the lake. Zhaojiacheng and Yi'an are national key cultural relics protection units. Lantingzhen mansion (also known as "Xincheng") is a provincial key cultural relics protection unit. County level cultural relics protection units such as lantingyuan cemetery, sanwanggong temple, Xingxiao bridge in Song Dynasty, Shiliang bridge in Northern Song Dynasty, and many scenic spots such as Dingshan sunrise, Danzao Qingyun, Guanshan playing board, Jianchi warm stew, stone man shoulder inserting, Shengui Xianji, Tianma XingKong, danhu moon catching, xiangshibashui, kaoting penholder, hawksbill shell front arch, Xihuan jade belt, Shayong goldfish, qiguanmen, etc.
Although surrounded by mountains on all sides, Huxi is very close to Chihu, Fotan and other coastal market towns. Since the Qing Dynasty, she and Han people have been living together and the ancestral home of overseas Chinese and Taiwan compatriots. It has the advantages of fertile land, beautiful scenery, pleasant climate, convenient transportation, rich cultural relics and high grade. With the improvement of the infrastructure and the rationalization of the agricultural structure, the "three capital" enterprises will continue to develop and expand, and the pace of development will be accelerated, so their future will be very promising.
