Xiwei township is located in the southeast of Youxi County, Fujian Province, with 26 ° 21 'n and 118 ° 24' e. it is adjacent to Chengguan, Meixian, Xibin, Yangzhong, tangchuan and Taixi. It is 33 km away from Youxi County, 161 km away from Fuzhou and 20 km away from Yangzhong interchange of Beijing Fuzhou Expressway. Historical evolution
Xiwei commune was established in 1959 and changed to township in 1984. In 1985, it had jurisdiction over 12 villages and 115 villager groups, and the township government was stationed in Xiwei village. In 1997, with an area of 163 square kilometers and a population of 15000, it has jurisdiction over 12 village committees including Xiwei, Hushan, Benyang, Xintian, Xiuqiao, Changhua, Jiufeng, Gaoshan, Puning, Daning, Gangji and zaokeng.

By the end of 2008, a total of 8 administrative villages in the township had implemented village level drinking water projects, with a planning and design investment of 2.908 million yuan (630000 yuan of state special subsidy and 2.278 million yuan raised by each village). Four villages, Puning, Gangji, zaokeng and Gaoshan, have been completed, and the other eight villages are under construction. Xiwei Township combines the construction of biogas digesters with the construction of new countryside, and combines with the improvement of toilets, kitchens and pigsty in rural areas, vigorously develops the pig biogas fruit ecological planting and breeding mode, so as to realize the sustainable development of agriculture. In 2008, 7 biogas digesters were newly built, including 1 household biogas digester of 30 cubic meters. The township has built 119 biogas digesters, and established a biogas service network in Puning village.
