Zhongmen town
The name of Zhongmen town originated from zhongmenfang in the Tang Dynasty. Since Putian County was established in the Southern Dynasty, it belongs to Putian, and all of them use Putian dialect. In the southeast of the town, there are Shangyu and Xiayu of Wuqiuyu in Putian.
Zhongmen town is the north gate of the Economic Development Zone on the North Bank of Meizhou Bay in Putian City. It is adjacent to Pinghai Bay in the East, Xiuyu port in the west, Dongpu town and Shanting Township in the south, and Yuetang Township in the north. The total length of coastline on the East and west sides is 18 kilometers. The territory is mostly hilly area below 120 meters above sea level, which belongs to subtropical marine monsoon climate.
In 2017, the administrative area of Zhongmen town was 3150 hectares, with a permanent population of 19800.
History of construction
Zhongmen town was called fuxizhou in ancient times. This place belongs to Putian since Putian County was established in the Southern Dynasty, all of which use Putian dialect.
In the second year of Chen Guangda (568), Putian County had been under the jurisdiction of Putian County.
In the ninth year of Tang Zhenguan (635), the County Department set up village square in the countryside, under which there were neighborhood guards. Where more than 100 households are in the village, less than 100 households are in the village. Four families are neighbors, five neighbors are security.
In the 16th year of Zhengyuan (800). Lin Yun, a native of putu County, Sichuan Province, was not forced by the rebellion by the Governor Liu Bixie. He was unyielding and won the posthumous title of "martyr" in the 10th year of Xiantong (869). Later, in view of the fact that Lin Yun's descendants moved to fuxizhou, the magistrate of Putian set zhongmenfang in the territory to honor the gate.
Ten years after Xiantong of Tang Dynasty (869), the magistrate of Putian County was deeply impressed by the achievements of Lin Yun, a native of the city, and gave his posthumous title to Zhonglie, the descendant of Lin Yun, who lived in fuxizhou, so he set up Zhongmen village in the territory. As a result, the establishment of administrative divisions began to appear in the territory.
In Song Dynasty, ZHONGMEN pavilion was built in a new square, with xin'anli (now xiazhong gate) in the East and chongfuli (now Shangzhong gate) in the West. Since the Song Dynasty, xin'anli and chongfuli have been subordinate to Chongfu Township, with villages under them. The county is divided into six townships, with 34 Li under its jurisdiction, bounded by Zhongmen Pavilion in Zhongmen village. The east of the pavilion is called xin'anli (including Meizhou town today), and the west of the pavilion is called chongfuli (including Xiuyu town today).
In Yuan Dynasty, Xiang and Li were established, following the song system. From the Yuan Dynasty to the Yuan Dynasty, several communities were set up in Lixia, with 50 households as a community, and those with less than 50 households combined with their neighbors as a community.
In Ming Dynasty, six townships were changed into seven districts. Within the territory of the seventh district, chongfuli and xin'anli are still set up. There is a map under it, with 110 households with grain as a map.
During the reign of Hongzhi (1488-1505), chongfuli had eight maps and 12 villages, namely Wushan, Liqian, Dongguo, Zhenglan, Fengqian, Zhongmen, Xidai, anba, xuntou, Shiqian, qiankang and Dahang. Xin'anli is divided into 13 maps and 16 villages, which are wuduo, Qianfan, talin, xianlianggang, Shanxi, Houshan, Puxi, Houluo, Husu, Xiakeng, Dongcai, qianlou, Menjia, Houguo, tiezao and Jilao. In 1661, after the coastal area was cut off, the territorial division was abandoned.
In the 20th year of Kangxi (1681), after the restoration of the boundary, it still belonged to the seventh district. The territory was still divided into chongfuli and Xin'an two Li. Chongfuli was divided into five maps and led by Li. The 13 villages are Wushan, Liqian, qiankang, Dali, Dongguo, Zhenglan, Fengqian, Zhongmen, Xidai, anba, xuntou, Shiqian and Dahang. XINANLI is divided into 6 maps and 12 villages, which are Xishan, Houshan, Puxi, Houhe, Husu, Xiakeng, Dongcai, qianlou, Menjia, Houguo, tiezao and Jilao.
In the second year of the Republic of China (1913), ZHONGMEN district was established by abolishing Li, which was homonymous with Zhongmen. Xin'anli and chongfuli were collectively called Zhongmen District, hence the name of ZHONGMEN district. During the period of the Republic of China, the administrative divisions in the territory were abolished repeatedly, with districts, joint guarantees and towns set up one after another, and the following divisions set up guarantees and a. Zhongmen village was renamed Zhongmen village.
The seventh year of the Republic of China (1918). Zhongmen administrative region is renamed as the eighth administrative region. The district office is located in Puxi. In 1938, Putian County was divided into six districts, including 87 townships and 824 townships. The eighth Administrative Region in the territory is renamed the sixth administrative region, and the District Department is located in Xiyuan Township, with jurisdiction over 13 Township Joint guarantees and 121 Township Joint guarantees.
In 1942, Putian County set up four district offices and nine towns directly under the county government, and the sixth administrative region was incorporated into Hushi administrative region. The administrative region is divided into Yuedong Township, Xiguo Township and Puxi Township, namely Xiyuan Township and Dongguo township are merged into Xiguo township; Dongwu Township and Yuexiu township are merged into Yuedong township; Xipu Township and Puxi township are merged into Puxi township.
In 1945, Putian County set up 12 towns and 8 townships. The territory is divided into ZHONGMEN Town, 25 Bao, 423a.

In July 1954, some rural areas in the county were merged and changed. The 20th district (Xiatang District) has jurisdiction over 17 townships, and the 21st district (Zhongmen District) has jurisdiction over 17 townships.
In June 1956, in order to meet the needs of agricultural production cooperation, the 20th district and the 21st district were merged, and Zhongmen administrative district was set up, with jurisdiction over 16 townships.
In December 1957, the whole county withdrew the districts and merged the townships. The territory is divided into three townships, Shanting, Dongpu and Xiatang.
In October 1958, the people's commune was established and the management system of integrating government and society was implemented. The territory belongs to Zhongmen people's commune, and Shanting, Dongpu and Xiatang townships are divided into 41 production teams.
In June 1961, the administrative division was adjusted to set up a management area under the county, which was merged and divided into people's communes (called small communes) by the neighboring production brigade. The territory is still Zhongmen District, in Xiatang. It has jurisdiction over 14 communes and 83 brigades including Shanting, Xipu, Dongwu, Dongpu, wuduo, Zhongmen, Xiatang, Banwei, Dongzhuang, qianyun, Pulin, Meizhou, Shima and Puxi. In August 1965, the administrative region of Putian County was divided into two towns and 24 people's communes. 1972. Heshan was renamed Heshan, pusha was renamed Puxi, and Dongwu was renamed Tiwu. In the same year, the administrative division of the territory was adjusted, and eight production brigades, Banwei, wangcuo, qintou, qiankang, Xishan, tiancuo, shanbing and Dongshan, were added.
In 1976, Shuangyuan production brigade was divided into Xiyuan production brigade and shuangjishan production brigade.
In 1980, tiancuo brigade was renamed Dongdian brigade, Dongshan brigade was renamed Jiangshan brigade, and Dongsha brigade was renamed Dongxian brigade.
In 1981, Qiankeng group was divided into Dongkeng group and former fan group.
In 1984, the name of the county's administrative division was changed, and the commune was renamed township. Zhongmen people's commune was renamed Zhongmen Township, production brigade was renamed administrative village (also known as Village), and villagers' groups were set up under the administrative village. The villages where some villagers groups live together are commonly known as natural villages.
In 1987, xiqian administrative village was added. This year, there were 38 administrative villages.
In 1988, ZHONGMEN township was renamed Zhongmen town. In the same year, Zhongmen administrative village and wangcuo administrative village were renamed Zhongmen neighborhood committee and wangcuo neighborhood committee respectively.
