Hongwei township is located in the west of Minhou County, Fujian Province, on the South Bank of the lower reaches of Minjiang River. It connects Zhuqi Township in the East, Minqing Township in the west, Shimaoshan in the south, Yongtai and Minqing in the south, Minjiang River in the north, and Baisha Town in the North.
Hongwei township is surrounded by mountains in the East, West, North and south, and muyuan River in the middle flows into Minjiang River from west to East, forming a narrow and long valley type semi mountainous area. It is the famous hometown of Arts and crafts, the hometown of olives.
Hongwei Township now governs 20 administrative villages. It is 37 kilometers away from the center of Fuzhou, the provincial capital, and 15 kilometers away from sugarcane street of the county. 316 National Highway and Fuyin Expressway pass through the territory, and the traffic is very convenient.

Hongwei township is famous for its handicrafts and olives. After the completion of Ganzhu bridge, the distance between the township and the county was shortened. Geography and climate

Historical evolution
At the end of the Tang Dynasty, Wang muyuan lived in Fujian with Wang Shenzhi, so he used to be called muyuan. He belonged to Yongxing in Yongan Township of Houguan County, guideli in qinghuali and Shimen Township, and the 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd and 18th capitals of Yongan Township in Yuan and Ming Dynasties. In the Qing Dynasty, it was the 19th and 20th capitals of Yong'an Township and the 18th capitals of Shimen township. At the end of Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Muyuan district.
Muyuan township was established in the 29th year of the Republic of China, belonging to the fourth district. It was still muyuan Township in the 34th year of the Republic of China. In the 37th year of the Republic of China, it belonged to sugarcane region. In September of the 38th year of the Republic of China, it belonged to the seventh district. In December, it joined with Baisha and Zhuqi to form the Tenth District. In May 1952, it was set up as 15 districts separately and was stationed in Hongwei township. In July 1955, it was called Hongwei District. In May 1958, it was changed into a township. In September, Hongwei people's commune was established. In October 1962, the district system was restored. In September 1964, it was restored to a commune. In July 1984, it was withdrawn from the commune and called a township.

By 2011, the area of Olives planted in the township is 13600 mu, and the main varieties are sandalwood, Huiyuan and Changying, with an output of 3300 tons. Five sweet olive varieties have been selected, including Yufeng, Xinyuan, Hongrong and other olive production demonstration bases, and a fruit processing enterprise.
