Historical evolution
In 1938, the KMT government merged shanjiabu and wangloubao into one and established Danwang township.
In 1949, the people's Government of Danwang township was established here. In the early days of the people's Republic of China, Danwang Township People's government, Guodian Township People's government and Zhangjiawan Township People's government were established respectively.
In the autumn of 1958, Danwang and Zhangwan were incorporated into Datong people's Commune and Guodian into Dingji people's commune. In 1961, they were divided into three communes: Danwang, Guodian and Zhangwan. In 1969, they were merged with Shunhe commune to form Yuejin commune. From 1971 to 1972, Danwang commune, Guodian commune and Zhangwan commune were successively restored . During the system reform in 1983, communes were changed into townships, brigades into villages, Danwang commune, Guodian commune and Zhangwan commune were changed into Danwang Township, Guodian Township and Zhangwan township.
In 1992, Zhangwan, Guodian and Danwang were merged into Danwang township.

Agriculture
