Zhongguan town

Zhongguan town is located in the hinterland of Hangjiahu Plain, in the northeast of Deqing County, with convenient transportation, 48 km from Hangzhou and 180 km from Shanghai. With an area of 78 square kilometers, it governs 19 administrative villages and 1 community, with a permanent population of 46816 (2017).

Zhongguan town was honored as a national civilized town, a national health town, a cultural town in Zhejiang Province, and a forest town in Zhejiang Province. It was listed in the second batch of provincial central towns in Zhejiang Province in 2010. In 2018, the national health county (township) was reconfirmed. In October 2019, Zhongguan town was selected as one of the "Top 1000 towns with comprehensive strength in China in 2019".

Historical evolution

Zhong Guan, named as "Zhong Guan" in Deqing County annals of Kangxi, means the official who made money. According to historical records, once upon a time, there were places and officials for casting money in the bell tube. The name of the bell tube (official) comes from this. At the beginning of the Republic of China, Zhongguan was a part of Songshan Township, and then a part of Zhongguan, Shenxi, Yongning and Quyuan township. In 1947, Zhongguan Township and Renshou Township were merged into Longxi township. It was liberated in May 1949, and the old administrative area was Longxi township. Zhongguan township was established in July 1950. In 1956, some villages of geting and baibiao were merged. Zhongguan commune was established in October 1958, and then merged with Ganshan commune to form Ganshan commune. In August 1961, it was transferred from Ganshan commune and restored to Zhongguan commune. In January 1984, the commune was changed into a township. In April 1989, it was approved as a town. In July 1992, geting township was incorporated into the present.

Huishan site
